Pain

 You can take it from me, got a sec? I'll explain
Why in life there is more than avoiding bad pain
Allover your body or there in your brain
The times that you suffer can lead to a gain

I'd tell you of a kid out there who very nearly died
So sick he was so little hope he cried and cried and cried
But somehow he got through it, death this time denied
And it left him something wonderful - how great to be alive!

A growing girl lost everything while she was still in school
Her only parent taken by someone terrible and cruel
And she could just have given up and let the darkness rule
But she went on and found her way and she became a jewel

It's tragic and it's beautiful when in the flames we burn
That after we come through it this is when we really learn
That it is through our suffering our failures in the churn
That you just need to overcome... and joy will then return
