Sleep should be so easy I really think it should
But modern life it intercedes (for evil not for good)
As the sun goes down each day and dinner is complete
We all should go to bed and then we dream of something sweet
The problem is (I'll tell you true) the world in which we live
There's too much (too too much!) to do we need a sedative
And children are excited and they've no sense to wind down
They're over-over tired and their having a meltdown
There's too much on the internet and too much on TV
There's too much scrolling on Facebook oh please just let me be!
In olden days there came a time when the world would go to sleep
But here now with our gadgets its unceasing *beep* *beep* *beep*
They tell us this is progress and it's just the way of life
The grandparents had none of this - just how did they survive?
They tell us that this world we're in is simply just the best
Well, I hope "they" enjoy it - please leave me to get some rest!
